The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania works regionally and locally to bring together people, partners and places to grow local giving and investment, strengthen area organizations and results, and take on the critical issues and efforts needed to build vibrant communities and a thriving north central Pennsylvania region. FCFP serves the communities of Lycoming, Montour, and Union Counties.
Whether you make a gift to an existing fund, create an endowment, establish a scholarship or make a bequest, the FCFP makes giving easy and effective. Our 97 years of grantmaking experience has prepared us to recognize the challenges facing our community and work collaboratively with local nonprofit agencies to find solutions.
"Creating Powerful Communities Through Passionate Giving"
Special Project of FCFP - Parade of Buffalo
The “Parade of Buffalo” was an initiative of the FCFP to create an opportunity to celebrate the Union County bicentennial, while establishing partnerships among the Community Foundation, the county and its residents.
FCFP, in partnership with local business and individual sponsors, donated 15 fiberglass buffalo to the county, one for each municipality and one for the county government, to be placed permanently in each community as a lasting memento of the bicentennial. The project was a celebration of Union County’s 200th Anniversary, uniting residents of the county as well as providing an opportunity to meet the emerging needs of Union County.
All proceeds from the “Parade of Buffalo” project were add to the Union County Community Fund, increasing the unrestricted funding available for grants to local nonprofits serving and meeting the needs of Union County. The Community Fund is vital because its flexibility allows the Foundation to award funding based on the greatest needs of Union County in any given year. Since 2005, the Community Foundation has made 59 grants from the Fund to 30 nonprofit organizations, totaling $109,191.
