Join Dr. Phoebe Wagner, a local author, for a Creative Writing Workshop on Friday June 7, 6-8pm.
This two-part writing series will focus on character and plot, the necessary parts of any good story, whether it’s a fantasy novel or a personal memoire. It is not required to take both classes, though they will build on each other.
At the first event, we will cover what makes a fascinating character. How do we make characters feel real on the page and make a reader want to keep reading? In this session, we will brainstorm characters and work on crafting desires and goals for these characters.
At the second event, we will send our characters on a journey. We will examine the basic structures of several common stories—such as the quest plot—and practice outlining the stories we might tell about our characters. By the end of the session, attendees will have mapped out a plot for their next project.
You can register for this event by calling 570-321-1500 or emailing AmyP@FCFPartnership.org. An email will be sent to registered participants prior to the event with additional details. For more information about Rider Park or directions visit: RiderPark.org.
