Scholarships by Special Interest

The following scholarships are available to non-traditional students that fit within the general criteria listed below.

Taylor J. Ertel Scholarship Fund for Foster Children

  • Applicants must have been placed in foster care by a child welfare agency in some point of their lives.
  • Must be a Pennsylvania resident.
  • Application submission currently OPEN. Please click here to download the application.

Joseph R. Calder, Jr., MD Scholarship Fund

  • Current students or students returning to school to pursue a career in a part-time or full-time medical related program.
  • Resident of Lycoming County.
  • Application available January 2022.

Warren E. “Whitey” Cole A.S.H.E. Scholarship Fund  

  • Enrolled in civil engineering, civil engineering technology or civil technology curriculum.
  • Current student of Penn State University, Bucknell University or Pennsylvania College of Technology OR resident of Bradford, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga or Union counties and attend another college. Must have completed at least the sophomore year of a 4-year curriculum or the freshman year of 2-year curriculum.
  • Application available January 2022.

Benjamin Franklin Fund  

  • Enrolled full-time at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
  • Graduated from a high school in Bradford, Clinton, Lycoming, Potter, Sullivan or Tioga County.
  • Grade point average of B (3.0) or higher.
  • Deadline for consideration has passed.

 Morton and Beatrice Harrison Scholarship Fund 

  • Young adults who, as a result of legal offenses as juveniles or young adults, that have come to the attention of the Lycoming County’s Probation Department OR the Lycoming County Children & Youth Services Agency OR the Nurse Family Partnership.
  • In addition, young adults graduating from a Lycoming County High School who have been identified with at-risk behavior in their school district throughout their secondary education (grades 6 through 12) may be considered.
  • Plan to attend or currently enrolled in a two- or four-year college/university, technical college, or trade school.
  • Application available January 2022.

Kenneth & Marcia Johnson Scholarship Fund

  • Graduating senior of a public high school in Lycoming County, pursuing a career in aviation, including, but not limited to, technical certification as an aircraft & power place mechanic (A&P), an avionics technician, pilot training leading to advanced certifications, air traffic controller or aeronautical engineer.
  • Second preference for a graduate of a public high school in Lycoming County, including previously awarded scholarship recipients and past applicants, pursuing a career in aviation, including, but not limited to, technical certification as an aircraft & power place mechanic (A&P), an avionics technician, pilot training leading to advanced certifications, air traffic controller or aeronautical engineer.
  • Application available January 2022.

Richard P. Lauchle Forestry Scholarship Fund

  • Enrolled in a forestry-related field of study, including, but not limited to, Forest Technology.
  • Preference to residents of Centre, Clinton, Columbia, Juniata, Lycoming, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder, Sullivan or Union Counties.
  • Secondary preference for students enrolled at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
  • Application available January 2022.

Jody Lea Loudenslager Scholarship Fund

  • Current Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. employee or child of a current employee.
  • Graduating high school seniors or students currently enrolled in college may apply.
  • Application available January 2022.

Raymond E. Venema, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund

  • Plan to attend or currently enrolled at an accredited college/university, technical college, or trade school and pursue a degree in a construction-related field of study.
  • Graduate of a high school in Clinton, Lycoming or Sullivan County.
  • Achieved at least a B average.
  • Preference for applicants who are currently members of a Student Chapter of the National Association of Home Builders. The chapter must have elected officers and a demonstrated program of activities.
  • Application available January 2022.
