Creating Powerful Communities Through Passionate Giving

Visiting 3D Pop Artist

First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania welcomed nationally-celebrated pop artist Charles Fazzino to the area. Fazzino is well-known for producing art works for major sport and cultural events, such as numerous NFL Super Bowls, Major League Baseball All Star games, and the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

As part of First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania’s Beyond the Budget strategic grant for local school districts, Fazzino was brought in to the area to help educate and enrich students’ art education. The aim of this annual grant is to bring opportunities to students that would otherwise be unavailable through their own school district budgets.

From February 25-27, 2014, Fazzino held a series of educational workshops about his style of art for teachers and students from Lycoming and Sullivan County school districts. Fifth grade students had the opportunity to work with Fazzino to create their own pop art and high school students participated in an art contest. The Grand Prize Winner received a trip for four to Fazzino’s New York studio, along with several other Little League prizes.

On the last day of his visit, Fazzino collaborated with select fifth grade students from ten school districts to work on an official piece of art for the 75th Anniversary of Little League. The piece was unveiled at the Little League World Series on August 16 and will be permanently on display at the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum and store.

“We’re thrilled that Charles could devote so much time to sharing his story and knowledge with so many educators and students in our community, while creating what will be one of the finest works of art permanently displayed in the greater Williamsport area for the world to enjoy,” said Jennifer Wilson, President and CEO of First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania.
