Anonymous Donor Gifts $250,000 to FCFP

FCFP is pleased to announce the creation of a donor advised fund to benefit the Shamokin Area School District. The $250,000 anonymous donation allowed FCFP to provide a grant to the School District for use on the turf replacement project at Kemp Memorial Stadium.

Regional Funders Adopt Common Application

The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania (FCFP), Charles B. Degenstein Foundation, Charles and Betty Degenstein Foundation, The 1994 Charles B. Degenstein Foundation (collectively the Degenstein Foundations) and the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way have partnered to create the COVID-19 Common Application.

COVID-19 United Community Funds Top $760,000

The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania (FCFP), the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way, Lycoming County United Way and the United Way of Columbia and Montour Counties, launched the COVID-19 United Community Funds to ensure that the region’s nonprofit community has the support they need to continue services during these unprecedented times. FCFP provided seed money and created an opportunity for regional philanthropists to make a collective impact. Over the course of four months community members, organizations and corporations contributed nearly $314,000. The largest community contribution was $100,000 from the Lycoming County United Way (LCUW).

Raise the Region 2020

Scholarships Available

FCFP has nearly $260,000 in scholarships available to area students for the 2020-2021 academic year. Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors from school districts in Bradford, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Sullivan and Union Counties. Additionally, the Community Foundation offers special interest scholarships for non-traditional students that are currently enrolled in courses or are returning to an institution of higher education.

Regional Fundraising Day Raises Over $1.54 Million

FCFP in collaboration with Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, hosted Raise the Region 2019 on March 13 and 14, to help the communities of Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties support local nonprofit organizations fundraising efforts. North Central Pennsylvania showed its true spirit of philanthropy by donating $1,540,878.66 to 273 nonprofit organizations. The 30-hour online fundraiser had thousands of donors make 10,324 gifts. Since starting in 2013, Raise the Region has collectively received $8.8 million in donations for the benefit of local nonprofit organizations.

STEP Establishes Endowment Fund with FCFP

Lycoming-Clinton Counties Commission for Community Action (STEP), Inc. and the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania (FCFP) are pleased to announce the creation of the STEP Community Collaboration Endowment Fund at FCFP. STEP created the fund with $25,000 raised over the last year as a permanent funding source in which a portion of the fund’s investment income is granted back to STEP in support of their programs and projects, while the fund’s principal is protected for future charitable interest.

FCFP Announces T-Ross Brothers Construction Scholarship Recipients

The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania (FCFP) is pleased to announce this year’s recipients of the T-Ross Brothers Construction Scholarship award. Trynity Lehman of Jersey Shore High School and Nathan Troutman of Line Mountain High School will each receive a $1,500 award towards their education in pursuit of a degree in the construction industry.

FCFP Announces $1 Million Strategic Grant

The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania is proud to award a $1,000,000 strategic grant for the Old City and East Third Street Gateway Revitalization Project. This project is a collaboration in revitalization between River Valley Transit, the City of Williamsport, and Lycoming College. The FCFP Board of Directors learned about the project last year during the “Once in a Century Grant” process and decided to provide critical community match dollars for the project in 2017.
